National Homebrew Day is May 7, 2011

The U.S. Congress announced in 1988 that May 7th is National Homebrew Day and since 2001 the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) has been celebrating with the Big Brew. The Big Brew, an event that encourages homebrewers and homebrew clubs to brew a batch of beer on the same day from a selection of recipes provided by AHA. This year the Big Brew recipes are East India Pale Ale, Must Be the Season of the Wit, and Rocket Rod’s Positively Porter.  Previous years have seen over 11,000 gallons of beer brewed at 300 celebration sites. Finally, at 12pm CDT homebrewers are encouraged to raise their glass to toast homebrewing.
